Flossie Cleo McBride was born October 6, 1900 at Dexter, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Dexter in 1919. In 1926 she graduated from nursing training becoming a registered nurse from the Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She was a public health nurse for several years in Des Moines and then became an Iowa Tuberculosis Association nurse in 1935 and remained in this work until her retirement in 1966. She passed away November 9, 1974.

She was a member of the Earlham Friends Church and the United Society of Friends Women and was very active in both. She was a member of the Sunshine Circle, a member of the Earlham Cosmopolitan Club of Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs and also affiliated with Iowa State Nurses Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Rankin McBride and Ida Mae Wilson McBride; sisters, Grace Izetta Houseman and Carrie Irma Murray; brothers, Claude Barnett McBride and Joseph William McBride. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Homer (Ruby) Gibbons of Redfield and Mrs. Herman (Myrtle) Brennan of Naples, Florida; also many nieces and nephews and their families.

Allen Houseman of Monral, Oregon, a nephew, made his home with his grandmother, Uncle Claude McBride and Aunt Flossie McBride after his mother's death.

Evans-McKee Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. Services were held at the Earlham Friends Church on November 13, 1974. Rev. Glenn Moore conducted the services.

Pall bearers were the nephews: J. Michael McBride, Gene Neven, Carl Gonzoles, Bill Houseman, Allen Houseman, Gene Martin, Robert Murray, and Curtis Struyk. Honorary pall bearers were Phil Bales, Rolland Conrad, Eugene Conrad, Beryl Kenworthy, Charles Gonseth, and Dwayne Applegate.

Interment was at Earlham Cemetery.
