Charles Theodore Jacobson was born September 22, 1904 at Earlham, Iowa, and passed away at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Moore on October 31, 1974. He was the youngest of 11 children born to Lee and Sophia Jacobson. Art Jacobson of Des Moines is the sole surviving child of that marriage.
Charles graduated from Earlham High School in 1925. As a student, he received "all-state" honors in football and baseball.
He was united in marriage to Fern Smith in 1936. To this union two sons were born, Charles Leroy of Des Moines and James Lee of Earlham. This marriage was dissolved in 1956. He was united in marriage to Marian Todd Larson in 1959. A daughter, Sharon, was born to this union. She is a student at Earlham High School.
Although he was employed by Penn Dixie Cement Company for many years, he retired from Hoerner Box Company in 1970 following 14 years of loyal service.
Although Charles was an outstanding athlete in his youth, many will remember him as an excellent piano player. He was blessed with the gift of musical talent.
His children will simply remember him as a wonderful and understanding father.
Services were held at the Evans-McKee Funeral Home on Saturday, November 2, with interment at the North Branch Cemetery.
