ARTHUR HARTMAN DIED THURSDAY

Death Occurs at His Home in Winterset at Age of 73 Years

Arthur W. Hartman, a resident of Madison county since 1943, died at his home in Winterset last Thursday, Feb. 15. He was 73 years of age.

Mr. Hartman was a native of Audubon, where he was born April 15, 1888, a son of George and Mary Waychoff Hartman. He served in the U.S. armed forces during World War I.

During his active life he engaged in farming, and for 17 years was employed here by the Penn-Dixie Cement corporation.

He was married at Indianola on Nov. 10, 1928, to Opal Cooper, who survives him. He also leaves two sons, Stephen Hartman, at home, and Dale L. Hartman of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. Lesley Younker of Des Moines and Mary Lou Carter of Winterset; four grandchildren; four brothers, George Hartman of Jasper, Minn., Earl Hartman of Spirit Lake, Floyd Hartman of Promise City and Sid Hartman of Winterset; and three sisters, Mrs. G. B. Taggart of Coon Rapids, Mrs. Harvey DeWall of Milford, and Mrs. Frank Oleson of Commerce.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Anderson-Wilson Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
