Amanda Ellen Hartman

Amanda Ellen Hartman was born in the state of Indiana Sept. 7, 1855 and came to the state of Iowa, Madison county when yet a babe, one year old.

She was married to Robert Caskey, Sept. 9, 1875. To this union were born five children, three of whom remain to mourn her departure; Mrs. W. D. Downs of St. Charles, Mrs. J. L. Landis and Mrs. D. C. Bradshaw both of Des Moines. An infant son, also a daughter, Mrs. Chas Hough, who passed away July 4, 1924, preceded her to her eternal home.

Besides the three daughters, there are a sister, Emma Hartman of Truro, a brother James Hartman also a grandson Ronald Bradshaw and a host of friends and neighbors who will greatly miss her.

Mrs. Caskey was converted while young in life and united with the Truro Christian church to which church she was a loyal and faithful member throughout the remainder of her life. She was an active Christian worker. She and her husband were liberal with their earthly means in supporting the church and were glad to give also of their time and strength to the cause of Christanity.

She had been ill eight weeks, when she peacefully passed away at 12:30, Sept. 14, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. L. Landis. Funeral services were conducted in the Truro church by her pastor, Frederick Cooper, Sept. 16 at 2:30 p.m.
