Mary Harsh Services Thursday

Mary Ellen Harsh, a resident of Winterset the past five years, died in her sleep Monday, October 22, 1973 at her residence. She was 74 years old.

Mrs. Harsh was born in Pilot Grove Township, Montgomery County, Iowa, December 6, 1898, the daughter of Franklin G. Harsh and the former Ann Hull Emmert. She was married in 1923 to Clarence Longmore. A daughter, Phyllis was born to the couple.

Mrs. Harsh lived in Red Oak, Iowa before her marriage to Louie Harsh on September 22, 1941.

A member of the Stuart, Iowa community for several years before her arrival in Winterset, Mrs. Harsh was affiliated with the Stuart Christian Church.

Surviving Mrs. Harsh is her husband, Louie of Winterset; three daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Hobbs of Des Moines, Mrs. Darlene Alexander of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Mrs. Norma Bickford of Morro Bay, California; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Pelzer ofGriswold, Iowa and Mrs. Mabel Shoemaker of Lead Hill, Arkansas and a brother, Leonard Emmert of Florida.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bickford-Murray Funeral Home in Greenfield, Iowa with butial at the Greenfield Cemetery.

Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur, pastor of the First Christian Church of Winterset, officiated.
