Wednesday, February 15, 1989Services for Lawrence T. Hartfield, 68, Winterset, who died Saturday, Feb. 11, at his residence were held Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Berry officiating. Burial was at the North McDonald Cemetery.
The county medical examiner ruled that his death resulted from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
Born in Madison County on July 7, 1920, he was the son of Thomas J. and Pearle Taylor Hartfield. A lifetime resident of Madison County, he was a member of the Word of Life Christian Center and the Madison County CBers. Mr. Hartfield, a retired welder for the Ford Motor Co., was married to Katherine Boatwright on June 20, 1948 in Madison County.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Lawrence Jr. of Winterset and Thomas of Ft. Hood, Texas; daughters, Katherine Bryan, Anna Hartfield and Pamela Davidshofer, all of Winterset; a sister, Norma Wilkinson of Ankeny; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild.
