WINTERSET NATIVE DIES IN MONTANA

Mrs. Leona Harrington, a native of Winterset, who became one of Montana's best known school teachers, died Sept. 9 at West Glacier in that state.

Mrs. Harrington was the former Leona Tidrick of Winterset. She was born here Nov. 19, 1882, and went to Montana shortly after graduating from high school, and became the teacher of a 1-room rural school at Apgar. It was the only school in Glacier National park.

In 1915 she married to Charles Harrington, and she gave up teaching for many years. But in 1946, after the death of her husband, she returned to take charge of the Apgar school. When that school was consolidated with the West Glacier school in 1957, she moved there, teaching until the close of the 1962-63 school year.

Funeral services were held Saturday at West Glacier with burial in Glacier Memorial cemetery.
