Mrs. Josephas Harrell

Amanda Missouri James, eldest daughter of Willet and Serelda James, was born October 8th, 1839, at DuPont, Indiana, and departed this life December 29th, 1923, at Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of 84 years, 2 months, 21 days.

When a small child, her parents moved to Vernon, Indiana, where she grew to womanhood. At the age of 15 she was sent to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she received her education under the guardianship of Rev. T. M. Eddy.

In the year 1856, during the revival meetings held at St. Paul’s M. F. Church, in Indianapolis, she was happily converted, after which she became a very active worker in the service of her Master, taking active part in the home as well as the church worship.

In the year 1863, she was united in marriage to Josephas Harrell, of Brownstown, Indiana. To this union were born eight children, all of whom, together with her husband, preceded her to their eternal home, except her youngest son, John T. Harrell, who together with two sisters, one brother, to daughters-in-laws, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, are left to mourn her loss.
