Maj. David Alan Harrell, 50, of Aurora, Colo., died July 24, 2002 in Bennett, Colo.

Funeral services were held Tuesday July 30 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel in Aurora with the Rev. Kevin Wise officiating. Burial was at Fort Logan National Cemetery with military rites performed by the United States Army.

David Harrell was born Sept. 20, 1951 in Winterset to Charles and Carrie (Duff) Harrell. He was a 1970 graduate of Winterset High School and also graduated from AIB in Des Moines. David then joined the United States Army, retiring after 20 years of service. Following his military career, he became an ROTC instructor at East High School in Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, (two in infancy).

He is survived by his wife, Jo Harrell of Aurora; a son, Scott Harrell of Florida; three daughters, Brie Harrell, Amy Harrell and Ashley Harrell, all of Aurora; his mother, Carrie of Winterset; three brothers, Ed Harrell (wife Dot) of Gilmore City, Larry Harrell of Creston and Howard Harrell (wife Marolee) of Winterset; father-in-law, Clarence Weller of Missouri; and two grandchildren.
