JOHN W. LOSE SR.

John W. Lose, Sr., 71, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center, from a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006 at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Cumming. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

John was born July 3, 1934 to Louis and Alice Lose in Norwalk, and was united in marriage to Joan D’Arcy on June 1, 1957. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. He retired from 30 years of service with John Deere in 1990 and worked in farming for most of his life. John was a member of United Auto Workers Local #450 and the Christ the King Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, cooking, and restoring tractors. John’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and sharing his wonderful sense of humor.

John is survived by his loving wife, Joan; children, Pat Lose of Phoenix, Nora Lee (Ed) Witt, Joe Lose, John Lose Jr., Mary Alice (Paul) Monroe, all of Des Moines, Steven (Missy) Lose of Menlo, Bob Lose, and Mike (Janet) Lose, both of Des Moines; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Bonita Neswold of Des Moines and Ann Johnston of West Des Moines; brothers, Rob (Audrey) Lose and Eddie (Mary) Lose, both of Des Moines; sister-in-law, Barbara Lose of Des Moines; and a host of other family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son. Thomas Lose, brothers, Louis “Blackie” Lose and Ralph Lose; sister, Agnes Lose; and brothers-in-law, Stuart Neswold and Bruce Johnston.

Memorial contributions may be given to Christ the King Catholic Church.
