Obituary Of Mrs. Wess Myers - written by a friend

Marietta Powell, the fifth child of Ruel and Jane Powell, was born near Fairview, December 30, 1872, and departed this life at her home in Jefferson Township, February 12, 1932, being 59 years, 1 month and 12 days old.

At about the age of 16 she was converted and united with the Fairview M. E. church and became a most devoted and efficient follower of the Master. She took an active part in every department of church work but was especially zealous in the missionary work, serving as president of the Society at Fairview for some time.

She was married to Wesley Myers December 23, 1896. They spent their entire married life in Madison county.

To this union were born six children. Mrs. Lela Reigle of Jefferson township; Arthur of Earlham; Marie of Estherville; Florence of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Clarice Ramsey of Redfield, and Warren at home.

Beside her children, she leaves to mourn her loss, her faithful life companion, her aged mother, four sisters, two brothers and six grandchildren.
These and a host of other relatives and friends are left to sorrow by this untimely bereavement.

"She went about doing good" could be truthfully said of Etta Myers. While her home was her "all", yet her kind deeds were not confined to that home. Many beside her family "will rise up and call her blessed." "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord henceforth: Yea, said the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them."

The funeral services were held on Monday at 2:00 o'clock in the Earlham Methodist church, Rev. E. A. Elliott of Van Meter bringing the message.

Interment in the Earlham cemetery.
