GRACE E. PETERS Died On Thursday

Mrs. Grace E. Peters, formerly a well known resident of Winterset, died here Thursday, May 21, 1964, at the home of her brother, Ray Grout. She was 82 years of age.

Mrs. Peters had been living in Long Beach, Calif., in recent years, but had returned here recently to make her home with her brother.

She was a native of Madison county. The former Grace E. Grout, daughter of George and Luella Compton Grout, she was born here Aug. 23, 1881. As a young woman she was a school teacher in Madison County and in Winterset.

She was married in 1907 to W. H. Blake. His death occurred in 1937, after which she moved to Grinnell to serve as house mother at the college there. She left Iowa in 1943, moving to Montana where she lived until 1950, when she moved to California.

She was married at Long Beach on Nov. 4, 1956, to C. R. Peters, also formerly of Winterset. His death occurred in 1959.

She was a 50-year member of the Rebekah lodge in Winterset, and a life member of the State University alumni association.

Mrs. Peters is survived by a step-son, Carleton H. Peters of Long Beach; two brothers, Ray and Delos Grout of Winterset; and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Alexander of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
