Special, St. Charles, May 25
Samuel Lathrum died at his home west of St. Charles Sunday evening, May 24th at 10 o’clock. He had been in poor health for several years and a few weeks ago became ill with the flu which with other complications caused his death.
Mr. Lathrum was 79 years of age and had lived almost his entire life in the neighborhood where he died. He was a man of noble qualities and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, three children, Mrs. Zenus Kinnan, David and Glen Lathrum, several grandchildren, two great grand children, and one sister, Mrs. E. E. Howard of this place. Plans for the funeral have not been completed at this time.

Funeral services for Samuel Lathrum who passed away early last week, were held in the Methodist church last Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. Mitchell conducting the services. The pall bearers, Rev. J, F. Arnold, J. W. Lathrum and L. C. Lathrum, Esmond and Orvllle Howard and P . F. James were all nephews of the deceased. Burial was made at Union Chapel. Those from a distance were, the Rev. Arnold and family of Glenwood, Leslie Lathrum, Mrs. Fred Crawford, Mrs. Flora Carl of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Lister Dickson of Booneville and Mr. and Mrs. George Murray from Van Meter.
