A funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 12, at 10:00 a.m. in Lorimor First Baptist Church for Harvey Pearl Handley of Lorimor, who died Aug. 8 at the Afton Care Center after a short illness. He was 88 years old.
Born Dec. 17, 1893 in Lorimor, he was the son of Ferris and Emma Givan Handley.
On Dec. 22, 1915, he married Myrtle Carpenter in Afton. Mrs. Handley died in 1973.
He was a self-employed laborer by occupation, living in Union and Madison counties most of his life.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two children; two sisters; one brother; and one grandchild.
Survivors include a daughter, Velma Johnson of Creston; two sons, Leslie of Lorimor and Harold of Waterloo; a brother, Earl of New Virginia; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Wayne Ferguson will officiate at the funeral service. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Watts-Lindsay Funeral Home, Creston Burial will be in Murray Cemetery.
