The Winterset Madisonian
Winterset, Iowa
Wednesday, June 8, 1938Friends throughout Madison county were shocked last Saturday to hear of the death of P. G. Rollstin, assistant county engineer, who died suddenly at Jefferson where he and Mrs. Rollstin had gone that day to spend the week end.
Mr. Rollstin was 65 years of age. His death apparently resulted from a heart attack, but was altogether unexpected as he had been in apparent good health. He and Mrs. Rollstin were riding in an automobile with Lee Deal whom they were visiting.
Mr. Rollstin was one of the most widely known and most highly regarded citizens of Madison county, and was a life-long resident of the county, with the exception of a few years spent in Nebraska.
He was born in Madison county and as a young man farmed in the vicinity of Peru, and for a time worked at the barber trade. He had lived in Winterset for the past 30 years, and for the past 20 years had been assistant county engineer. He was long a prominent member of the Baptist church here.
He was married in Winterset in 1899 to Miss Lena Huss of this community. Their only daughter, Mary Vee Rollstin, died in 1931.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a twin brother, Leston Rollstin, of Estes Park, Col.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Baptist church. In the absence of the Baptist pastor, the services were held in charge of the Rev. W. G. Robertson of the United Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
