Wednesday, June 29, 1938Ira A. Moore, a long-time Madison county resident, and a retired farmer, died at his home in Winterset Monday. He was 68 years of age.
Mr. Moore was born in Madison county and spent most of his life farming south of Winterset. Upon retiring from active farm work, he moved to town and had made his home at 804 East Filmore street.
Funeral services were held this morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. William Hahessy. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Funeral services for Ira Austin Moore, 68, were held Wednesday morning at nine o’clock at St. Joseph’s church, conducted by the Rev. William Hahessy
Mr. Moore, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Moore, was born October 1, 1869 in Madison county and died Monday afternoon at his home at 804 east Fillmore street, following an illness of several months.
He spent most of his life on a farm south of town, having retired from farming a few years ago and moving to Winterset. His wife, Mary Moore, survives.

Ira Augustus Moore, son of James and Martha Moore, was born in Madison county, October 1, 1869 and died at his home in Winterset, June 27, 1938. His death was caused by heart failure, following an illness from which he had suffered for several years. He was 68 years, eight months and 26 days of of age and had lived his entire life in the county, moving to Winterset from a farm south of town last November.
He was united in marriage to Mary Moore April 25, 1911. Three orphaned children were reared in the home, Mrs. Martha Kirk of St. Joseph, Missouri; Mrs. Mary Wright of Winterset and Miss Dawn Moore of Dubuque. Besides these girls he leaves his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Clifton of Murray, Myrtle Moore of Winterset and one brother, Herbert Moore also of Winterset.
Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic church, Wednesday morning, June 29, at nine o’clock, conducted by the Rev. William Hahessy. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
