Death of Mrs. H. D. Aikins

Mrs. H. D. Aikins died about five o'clock Tuesday, August 28th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. R. Lemon, in Council Bluffs. Mrs. Aikins had a stroke of paralysis on her left side Tuesday morning, and she never recovered. Winterset people were shocked to hear of her death, because she had been here during chautauqua, and left soon afterward for Council Bluffs and was in fairly good health.

Mrs. Aikins was born in Delphi, Ind., in 1845, and when a small girl moved to Pella. There she was married to Mr. Aikins and they came to Winterset in 1896, where the latter became engaged in the shoe business. Mr. Aikins died in 1914 and in 1917 his widow moved to Des Moines with her daughter, Mrs. Isaac Ketman. She is survived by four children: C. W. Aikins of Winterset, Mrs. I. J. Ketman of Des Moines, Mrs. Arthur Wilson of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Lemon of Council Bluffs.

The body will shipped here Saturday night and the funeral will be at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, with burial in the family lot in the Winterset cemetery.
