Wednesday, March 7, 1979Harry Hamilton Dies At 58
Funeral services for Harry J. Hamilton, a former Winterset resident, were held Wednesday, Feb. 28, from the Lux Memorial chapel, Rantoul, Illinois.
Mr. Hamilton, a retired Master Sergeant in the U.S.A.F. died Feb. 23 at his home in Dewey, Illinois. He was 58 years of age.
Hamilton was born in Des Moines on Aug. 2, 1920, a son of Floyd and Ethyl Scott Hamilton. He was raised in the home of Thornton and Iva Hamilton Duff in Winterset, following the death of his parents.
Following graduation from Winterset high school, he entered the Army Air Force in March of 1941. He retired from the service in August, 1970, after 28 years active military duty.
He married Bernadine Gentry, Jan. 17. 1943 and lived in Dewey, Ill. since retirement.
Survivors include three sons, Larry J. Hamilton of McLoud, Oklahoma, Dennis D. Hamilton of Tarzansa, Calif.; Timothy L. Hamilton of Del City, Oklahoma; and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy.
Officiating at the funeral last Wednesday was Chaplain Leland L. Fruechto, with military honors by the Chanute Air Force base ceremonial unit. Burial was in the National Cemetery, Danville, Ill.
