Malcolm McDonald died at his home in Douglas township, on Saturday, March 24th, after a period of failing health, extending over several years. Last fall a heart leakage and stomach trouble brought on a rapid decline.

He was the youngest of seven sons born to Thomas and Eliza McDonald, who left Guernsey county, Ohio in 1864, and settled in Madison county. At this time, Mr. McDonald was about nine years old, the remaining 53 years of his life being spent on the home farm and his own farm.

Of this large family, only one sister and brother are left: Mrs. Harriet Bowlsby of Winterset and William McDonald. Besides his widow there remain a daughter, Mrs. A. O. Hawkins and a son, Samuel of Omaha.

Rev. M. M. Cable conducted funeral services on Monday morning at the family home, with interment in the McDonald cemetery.
