LOIS WELCH Dies a 61

Lois Eve Welch, 61, of Rural Route 3, Winterset, died September 8, 1977, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

She was born September 6, 1916, at Peru, to Grover and Ethel Emerson Mease. On November 20, 1937, she married Albert E. (John) Welch at Winterset.

A lifetime resident of Madison county, Mrs. Welch was an active member of the First United Methodist Church for which she had done volunteer work the past two years. She also belonged to Susanna Circle, served as co-chairman of the cancer drive, and was an active member of the Democratic party. Past president of Legion Auxiliary, she also was a legal secretary for nine years in the office of Webster, Jordan, and Oliver before retiring in 1973.

Her husband John survives her, as do two sons: Larry of Nora Springs and Paul of Truro; daughter, Nancy Breitkreutz of Ankeny; her mother, Ethel Mease of Winterset; and two grandchildren. Survivors also include two brothers, Willard and Jack Mease of Winterset, and one sister, Thelma M. Colvin of San Diego, California.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.

Services were held Saturday, September 10, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Byrn Ayers officiating. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
