Mae Halbrook Dies At 92

Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Halbrook of Winterset were held Tuesday, March 17 from the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home in Clarion, Iowa.

Mrs. Halbrook died Saturday, March 14 at the Villa West Care Center in Winterset. She was 92 years of age.

She was born at Bethany, Missouri on Jan. 26, 1889, the daughter of Alfred A. and Fannie M. Small Williams. On Sept. 21, 1907 she was married to James W. D. Halbrook in Dent County, Missouri.

They farmed in Missouri, Oklahoma and Wisconsin before moving to Rowan, Iowa in 1918. In the early 1930s they moved to Dows and in 1937 to Mason City, Iowa.

In 1967 they moved to Winterset, where Mr. Halbrook died in 1971. Mrs. Halbrook had been a resident of Villa West the past six years.

She is survived by five children, including Mrs. Jack (Elsie) Hilton of Winterset, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Officiating at the funeral service was the Rev. Carl O. Jensen. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Rowan, Iowa.
