Eleanor Baur Halderman, 95, of Winterset, died of pneumonia, July 30, 1995 at the Community Care of Winterset. Memorial services will be Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. The Rev. David Bauer will officiate the services. The body has been donated to the University of Osteopathic Medicine & Science in Des Moines.
She was born in Madison County on Dec. 31, 1899 to Robert and Hettie (McBride) Baur. She was married to Roy Combs in 1933 at Nashua. She later married Claude Halderman on March 9, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland. She had been the foods and equipment editor for "Household" and "Capper's Farmer Magazines" and was listed in "Who's Who of American Women" in 1958. She had spent her early part of life in Madison and moved again to Winterset in 1986.
She was preceded in death by both husbands and two brothers.
Surviving relatives include one stepdaughter, Patricia Gregory of Houston, Texas; one sister, Meriam Smith of Springfield, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
