Robert Charles Wells, 71, of Dexter died from complications of cancer Feb. 3, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 6, at the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter with the Rev. Shirley Lockard officiating. Burial was at Dexter Cemetery.
Robert Wells was born Sept. 20, 1928, to Gerald and Leone "Bill" (Coulter) Wells of rural Dexter. Following graduation from Dexter High School in 1946, he served with the U. S. Army in occupied Japan. After completing his military service, Robert returned to the Dexter area where he worked as a carpenter, trucker and farmer. He married Peggy Blohm on March 12, 1950.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mary of Des Moines, Margaret of Earlham, Susan of Creston and Brenda of Southlake, Texas; two sons, Mike of Guthrie Center and John of Dexter; two sisters, Virginia Bond of Dexter and Connie Weber of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Richard Wells of Dexter; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Home in Dexter.
