Earlham Echo - November 14, 1974

Winnie William Dunmire was born June 20, 1896, at Coin, Iowa to Alfred Wesley Dunmire and Susan Marie Harkman Dunmire. He passed away Wednesday, November 6, 1974 at his home in Earlham. Winnie worked at the local rock quarry from 1923 until he retired in 1957. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in France.

He was a loving husband and father and grandfather. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a son, Ralph Dunmire.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, for 53 years, one daughter, Mrs. Julia Carson of Lovila; sons Alfred of Des Moines and Harry of Blue Rapids, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Cozad of Earlham; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one nephew.

Last rites were held at the Earlham Friends church on Saturday, November 9, with the Rev. Glenn Moore officiating. Mrs. Carol Thomas was the organist. Casket bearers were grandsons, Ricky Dunmire, Dennis Dunmire, Barry Dunmire, Dennis Benton, Dennis Le May, and Hal Miller.

Interment was in the Earlham cemetery. Evans-McKee funeral home made the arrangements.
