Betty Lou Wells, 72, of Earlham died July 10, 2005, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 16, at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham with Pastor George Thurman officiating. A private burial of the cremains was held at Dexter Cemetery.
Betty Wells was born July 27, 1932, in Iowa City to Paul and Nila Stewart. She grew up in and around Dexter, spent a short time in Wichita, Kan., and was a 1950 graduate of Dexter High School. On Sept. 23, 1950, she married Richard Wells in Fort Dodge. They resided in Dexter throughout their married lives. Betty was a former employee of Drew’s Candy Kitchen in Dexter.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Richard (Dickie) Wells; and a brother, Jim Stewart.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen Irwin of Oak Grove, Minn.; two sons, Russell Wells of Stuart and Ronald Wells of Menlo; a brother, Eugene Stewart of Friday Harbor, Wash.; and seven grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one great-grandson.
