BYRON A. WELCH, St. Charles

Services for Byron A. Welch, 99, rural St. Charles, who died Dec. 26, 1984, at the Care Center North where he resided, were held Friday, Dec. 28 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurice Schulte officiating. Burial was at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery at Creston.

Born at Groton, Vt., on Nov. 13, 1885, he was the son of Harvey and Kathryn Smith Welch.

He was a farm hand at the old P. J. Cunningham farm and retired in 1952 and spent most of his life in Madison County. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

On Jan. 7, 1924, he married Eva Leger in Louisiana.

Survivors include a son, Joseph of Huntington Park, Calif.; daughters, Mary Cook of rural St. Charles and Margaret Akin of Des Moines; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife and parents.
