Services for Albert E. "John" Welch, 73, rural Winterset, who died June 9, 1986 at his residence, will be held Thursday, June 12, at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born March 5, 1913 at Old Buxton in Monroe County, Iowa, he was the son of Martin and Nelle Burns Welch. He was a retired maintenance worker for the Winterset Community Schools.
On Nov. 20, 1937, he was married to Lois Eve Mease at Winterset. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He had lived in Winterset since 1949, coming from Greenfield.
Survivors include sons, Larry M. Welch of Winterset and Paul D. Welch of Truro; a daughter, Nancy M. Breitkreutz of Ankeny; and four grandchildren, Richard M. Welch, Kim Welch, and Mathew and Amy Breitkreutz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother.
