Michael James Weldon, 56, of 1735 Edgewood Dr. NW, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, in his home following a long illness. Memorial services: 7 p.m. Thursday, Turner Chapel West. Inurnment will be private. The Rev. Ken Glandorf, Mercy Hospital chaplain, Pastoral Care, will officiate.

Survivors include his close friend and companion for 21 years, Tressa Slaubaugh; two daughters, Rachelle Bass of California and Raxanne Pace of Traer; two grandchildren, Sienna and Adison; a sister, Mickie Utlser of Winterset; a brother, Rick Weldon of Des Moines; and two aunts, Marge and Betts.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mike was born April 16, 1945, in Winterset, the beloved son of Ken and Bea Hazlett Weldon. He worked in sales for several years. Mike loved to collect things, especially stamps, Nascar memorabilia and Disney toys.

Michael's family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice of Mercy, especially their nurse Judy, and a special thanks to Dr. Yang Ahn.

A memorial fund has been established.

Michael James Weldon, 56, of Cedar Rapids died Dec. 29, 2001, of cancer at his home.

Memorial services were held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Turner Chapel West in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Ken Glandorf officiating. Inurnment was private.

Mike Weldon was born April 16, 1945, in Winterset to Ken and Bea (Hazlitt) Weldon. He was a 1963 graduate of Winterset High School. Mike had worked in sales for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his companion of 21 years, Tressa Slaubaugh; two daughers, Rachelle Bass of California and Roxanne Pace of Traer; a sister, Micki Utsler (husband Larry) of Winterset; a brother, Rick Weldon (wife Deann) of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.
