1963FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN WASHINGTON
Vern P. Guthrie, formerly of Winterset and Madison county, died Aug. 3 in Vancouver, Wash., according to information received here.
Mr. Guthrie was born June 16, 1878, in Murray, and was 85 years of age at his death. He was a son of the late Thomas and Angeline Ball Guthrie.
His early life was spent in and near Winterset, where he engaged in cattle buying.
His wife preceded him in death in 1951. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Opal McDougal of Dearborn, Mich., and Mrs. Marie Johnson of Vancouver; two grandsons; a brother, Bryan Guthrie of Cromwell; and five sisters, Mrs. Lela Wick of Des Moines, Mrs. Bable Baldner of Mt. Ayr, Mrs. Laura Stout of Denison, Mrs. Ruby McCain of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Nell Carlson of Creston.
The body was returned here for burial Aug. 8 in Moon cemetery near Macksburg, with graveside services there.
