Services for Keith Merrill Guthrie, 61, Norwalk, who died at his home May 10, were held Friday, May 13, at the Kale Funeral HOme in Osceola with the Rev. Joel Andrus of Martensdale officiating. Burial was at the Murray Cemetery.
Born on July 16, 1926 at New Virginia, he was the son of Wilbur and Wilma Scherdin Guthrie. He graduated from Truro High School in 1944 and was married to Margaret Harrell on Feb. 18, 1949.
Mr. Guthrie was a retired employee of the Iowa Power and Light Co. credit department and had lived in Norwalk 33 years. He was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonary, Welfare Lodge No. 628 A.F. & A.M. at Norwalk, and was a veteran of World War II. He played banjo in the West Des Moines Dixieland Band for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Norwalk; daughters, Kathy Van Dike and husband Charles of Newton, and Bonnie Jones and husband Stanley of Norwalk; a son, Thomas of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; a brother, Norman Guthrie of Malvern, Ark.; and a sister, La Von Scadden of Osceola.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
