Funeral Monday For Ida Grout

Ida May Grout of North Ward Plaza died Friday, January 11 at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Mrs. Grout was a lifelong resident of Madison County.

Born on March 28, 1888 in Madison County, she was the daughter of George A. and Elizabeth Haynes Buchanan. She was united in marriage to Ray Nelson Grout on February 24, 1909 in Winterset. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1970.

Mrs. Grout was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women's Society.

Surviving are a son, John B. Grout of Alhambra, Calif.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Floyd Buchanan of Curtiss, Wis. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, George Nelson and Russell; three brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 14, at First United Presbyterian Church. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with Rev. Alan Parker officiating.
