Mary Katherine Grouell, Urbandale

Mary Katherine Grouell, 81, died of cancer November 22, 1992 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Wed., Nov. 25 at Westover Funeral Homes in Des Moines. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

Miss Grouell was born in Ida Grove June 25, 1911, to Harry D. and Julia (Wilhelm) Grouell. She taught rural Madison County schools and in Macksburg before moving to Des Moines in 1949, where she taught for 25 years. She was a member of the Des Moines Area Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Sigma Phi, and the First United Methodist Church in Des Moines.

Surviving relatives include a sister, Esther Grouell of Des Moines.

Memorials may be sent to Creative Center for Young Children at First United Methodist Church in Des Moines.
