ROLLAND P. WEESNER, formerly of Dexter

Funeral services for Rolland P. Weesner, 93, were held Mon., May 4 at Dexter United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jill Flyr officiating. Mr. Weesner died of a heart ailment on May 1, 1992.

He was born January 28, 1899 near Stuart to James and Sarah (Varley) Weesner and spent his early years on the family farm near Stuart. He graduated from Stuart High School, attended Iowa State College and served in the military. He married Lula Kathryn Sanborn on February 16, 1921. He was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Odd Fellows Lodge, Lions Club and Farm Bureau. He was involved with his family in rearing purebred Angus cattle for many years and hosted the National Plowing Match at the farm in 1948 which President Truman attended.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Lula and Hilda; a son and a granddaughter.

Surviving are two sons, Robert and Jack; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandsons; and one great-great-grandson.

Burial was at Dexter Cemetery.
