FUNERAL HELD FOR FRANK GRIFFITH, 35

Funeral Services Held Last Friday for Veteran of World War II

Funeral services for Frank Chase Griffith, a World War II veteran, were held Friday afternoon from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset.

Mr. Griffith died Wednesday afternoon, January 14 at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines at the age of 35. He had been a life-long resident of this county, except for the time spent in the armed forces during World War II.

He was born in Winterset on July 1, 1917, the son of Edna and Ersie Griffith. He was a member of the local Methodist church and of the I.O.O.F.lodge.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Edna Griffith of Winterset; three brothers, Robert of Iowa Falls, Paul and Wayne of Winterset; and two sisters, Mary Busch of Des Moines and Mrs. Kathryn Haymond of Winterset, four nieces and one nephew.

Officiating at the services last Friday afternoon was the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Methodist church here. Burial was at McDonald cemetery northwest of Winterset, with the local American Legion post conducting graveside rites.
