CALIFORNIA RITES FOR MARY GREEN, 80

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1, at Los Angeles Calif., for Mrs. Mary Newlon Green, a native of Madison county. Mrs. Green died at her home in Los Angeles on March 30 at the age of 80.

She was the widow of Lt. Clarence Green, one of this counties' first battle casualties in Company A Rainbow Division during World War I. His name was used when the American Legion formed Green Rogers post here in 1919.

Mrs. Green was born in Iowa on Oct. 18, 1886, the daughter of William C. and Lydia Newlon. She had lived in California the past 27 years.

She is survived by a son, William Newlon Green of Aptos, Calif. and one sister, Carrie Shambaugh of Winterset, five nephews and six nieces and three grandchildren.

Officiating at the service was Dr. James Whitcomb Bougher, Jr. pastor of the Glendale Baptist church. Burial was in Hollywood Memorial Park cemetery.
