Winterset Madisonian - May 29, 1963

James I. Pyle, a well-known Winterset resident the last 18 years, died Wednesday, May 22, at his home in Winterset. Death resulted from a heart attack. He was 74 years of age.

Mr. Pyle was a native of Warren county, where he was born at Hartford on Jan. 14, 1889. His life was spent in that county until moving to Winterset 18 years ago. He was a son of J. T. and Elizabeth Park Pyle.

He was married Feb. 22, 1911, at Indianola, to Bertha E. Campbell, who survives him.

During his active life he had engaged in farming, and dairying.

He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Lawrence Pyle of Van Nuys, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Lemon of West Des Moines; and four grandsons.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Hartford cemetery, with graveside services there.
