Services for Martha Smith, 91, Macksburg, who died Wednesday, April 22 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg with the Rev. Ron Kinzler officiating. Burial was at the Moon cemetery.

Born Dec. 28, 1895 in Dodge township of Union County, she was the daughter of Grandville and Annie Remplin Thompson. She lived her lifetime in Union and Madison counties with most of her life spent in the Macksburg community.

She was a homemaker and was a member of the Methodist church, the WRC and the Rebekah lodge, all of Macksburg. On Feb. 18, 1914, she was married to Elva L. Smith in Union County. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1974.

Survivors include a son, Harold Smith and wife, Edna, of Muldrow, Okla.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter, three brothers and six sisters.
