WALT GRAY OF WINTERSET DIES

Resident of County 66 Years Died Sunday at Iowa City

Walter T. Gray of Winterset, a resident of Madison county for 66 years, died Sunday, Nov. 22 at a hospital in Iowa City. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Gray was born at Freeman, Mo., on Oct. 26, 1886, but moved to Madison county when he was 12 years of age. He was a son of Levi and Samantha Osborn Gray. His active life was spent in farming, but he had been retired in recent years.

Mr. Gray was married at Winterset on April 30, 1904 to Edith M. Hartman. Her death occurred in 1961. An infant daughter also preceded him in death.

He was a member of the First Christian church at Winterset, and of the Neighborhood club.

Surviving are three sons, James T. Gray of Des Moines, Garold D. Gray of Rockford, Ill., and Ray W. Gray of Patterson; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-granchildren; a brother, Floyd Gray and a sister, Mrs. Smith Johnson, both of Winterset.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial will be made in the Peru cemetery.
