Ray William Gray, Rural Winterset

Services for Ray William Gray, 64, a former mayor at Patterson, who died Feb. 13 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines, were held Wednesday morning, Feb. 15 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Byron Ayers officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Madison County on Dec. 16, 1919, he was the son of Walter and Edith Mae Hartman Gray. He lived in the county most of his lifetime and engaged in farming. He retired in 1979.

He also worked as a mechanic at the Armstrong Tire and Rubber Co. in Des Moines and also for C. F. Martens in Martensdale. He was married to Dorothy Roberts in Indianola on Sept. 1, 1939.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Phil and wife Linda of Indianola; a brother, Garold of Rockford, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and an infant sister.
