ALMA WERTS Services Held

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 11, at 1:30 p.m. from the Earlham Presbyterian church for Alma Anderson Werts, 86, who died Wednesday, June 8, 1977 at Winterset Care Center North in Winterset.

She was born in Madison County on February 18, 1891, the daughter of William and Alice Anderson.

On December 29, 1909 she was united in marriage to George Werts and they were engaged in farming near Penn Center until they moved to Winterset in 1950. To this union three sons were born.

She was a longtime member of the Penn Center church, later the Methodist church in Winterset and in 1967 transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church in Earlham. She was also a member of Friendly Circle and the over 60 club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, three sisters, an infant son and her husband George, who died in 1952. After her husband's death she remained in Winterset until 1967 when she moved to Pioneer Place in Earlham where she resided until a disabling stroke caused her to reside at Manor NNorth.

Those surviving are her two sons: Loyal Werts of Winterset and Earl Werts of Wellman, Iowa. Also eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Alice Holden of Blue Jacket, Oklahoma.
