EARL WERTS, Wellman

Earl R. Werts, 83, of Wellman, died July 19, 2004.

Funeral serices were held Wednesday, July 21, at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona with Chaplain Beth Miller officiating. Burial was at Sharon Hill Cemetery, also in Kalona.

Earl Werts was born May 6, 1921, to George and Alma (Anderson) Werts of Earlham. He attended rural schools in the Earlham community and, later, a mechanical technician training school. Earl worked as a mechanic, owning Shady Oaks Repair in Wellman. He also worked at Wade Motors for several years. On May 18, 1973, he married Marvel (Drollinger) Brenneman at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman.

He is survived by his wife, Marvel, of Wellman, two sons, Bob Werts and Larry Werts, both of California; two stepsons, Terry Brenneman of Algona and Larry Brenneman of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Loyal Werts of Winterset; and one grandson an nine stepgrandchildren.
