IVAN PRYOR, Carroll

Ivan Couch Pryor, 88, a former Earlham resident, died July 22, 2005, at the Carroll Health Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 27, at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham with Pastor Charles Thompson officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery with military rites performed by Earlham American Legion Post 158.

Ivan Pryor was born March 15, 1917, to Clarence and Lora (Couch) Pryor of rural Earlham. He was a 1936 graduate of Earlham High School. He worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Miami, Fla., until 1940, when he entered the United States Navy, serving during World War II. On Aug. 14, 1943, he married Darlene McClurg in Earlham. Following his discharge from the service, he and his wife moved to the Worthington area of Madison County where they farmed until 1985. They then moved to Carroll. Ivan was employed in the woodshop at New Hope Village, where he worked for many years until retirement.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Pryor and a sister, Mildred DeVault.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Carroll, two daughters, Norma Jean Pryor of Glidden and Karen Horman of Normal, Ill.; and two granddaughters.
