DOYLE D. GRACEY OF TRURO DIES

Veteran of World War II Buried Thursday in Young Cemetery

Doyle D. Gracey, a well-known resident of the Truro community, died Tuesday, April 12, at a Des Moines hospital. He was 67 years of age.

Mr. Gracey was born in Truro Jan. 18, 1899, a son of James F. and Susan Jones Gracey. His early life was spent at Truro, and he farmed there before moving to Illinois where he was employed by Western Transportation company for many years. He retired and moved back to Truro in 1951.

During World War II he served three years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Baldwin-Patterson post, American Legion, in Des Moines, and of the Methodist church in Truro.

Mr. Gracey was married Dec. 25, 1920 to Queenie Isenberger, who survives him. He also leaves four daughters, Mrs. Leo Larock of Capistrano Beach, Calif., Mrs. Roy McCarl of Des Moines, Mrs. George Tuttle of Des Moines, and Mrs. Robert Whittington of Chicago; a son, Doyle Gracey Jr., of Oceanside, Calif.; two brothers, Merrill Gracey, Springville, Iowa and Benton Gracey of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Pansy Goodrich of Woodburn; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. James Nicholson. Burial was made in Young cemetery.
