James W. Wheeler, a resident of this community for 26 year, died at his home in Winterset last Wednesday, July 6, 1960. He was 69 years of age.
Mr. Wheeler was a machinist during his active years. He was a native of Waterloo, where he was born Oct. 4, 1890, a son of Albert and Ida Livingston Wheeler.
He was married June 9, 1934 at Grant City, Mo., to Jessie Field, who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Floyd Wheeler of Des Moines, Eugene F. Wheeler of Holly, Mich., and Lou O. Wheeler of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Seamans of Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Lou Ellen Anderson of Winterset; two step-sons, Jack Rowles of El Monte, Caif., and Harry E. Mortice of Osseo, Minn.; and three step-daughters, Mrs. Helen DeMoss of Newton, Mrs. Dorothy Addy of Thorton, Colo., and Mrs. Maxine Goddard of Davenport.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Anderson-Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in Newton Union cemetery at Newton.
