Russell E. Grout of Winterset died last Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines. He was 59 years of age.
Mr. Grout was a life-time resident of the Winterset community. He was born here Feb. 1, 1911, a son of Ray and Ida M. Buchanan Grout. He served in the U.S. armed forces during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion.
For many years he had been employed as parts manager at Brittain's Standard Parts here.
Mr. Grout was married Oct. 4, 1941, at Princeton, Mo., to Luella Winther, who survives him.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Russell E. Grout II, of West Liberty; his mother Mrs. Ida M. Grout of Winterset; two grandchildren; and a brother, John Grout of Alhambra, Calif.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coghenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with military honors by Green-Rogers post of the American Legion.
