Mrs. Evelyn G. Simpson of Winterset, a school teacher in this community for many years, died Thursday, Feb. 18, at Memorial hospital here, after an extended illness. She was 62 years of age.

Mrs. Simpson was a life-time resident of Madison county. She was the former Evelyn Rickets, daughter of Edwin G. and Nora Gibbons Rickets, and was born here Sept. 6, 1908. She was a graduate of Winterset High school, and attended Drake university in Des Moines and Simpson college in Indianola.

She served as a teacher in the rural schools of Madison county and in the Winterset community schools in recent years, prior to her retirement.

She was married May 7, 1927 at Albany, Mo., to Charles L. Simpson. His death occurred in 1968.

She was a member of the First Christian church of Winterset.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Karl Cumings of Des Moines; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Floyd Rickets of Tracy, Calif., and Eldon Rickets of Afton.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Revs. Eldon E. Jandebaur and Walter A. Samp. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
