GENEVIEVE ELLA REE WHALEN, Winterset

Funeral services for Genevieve Ella Ree Whalen, 78, will be held Thurs., Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Griffee will officiate. Visitation is Wed., Sept. 2 from 12 noon to 9 p.m. Mrs. Whalen died on August 30, 1992 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was born on March 21, 1914 in Griswold to Clarence M. and Lillian Bell (Leonard) Myers. She married Charles A. Whalen on September 24, 1938 at Troy, Kan. She taught elementary school in Griswold and moved to Winterset in 1948. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pyhian Sisters.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and two brothers.

Surviving are her "special family", Alice Gibson of Lake Geneva, Wis.; Ardis Porter of Des Moines; Al Osborn of Urbandale; and Donald Osborn of Milpitas, Calif.; two brothers, Cecil Myers of Des Moines and Gerald Myers of Union, Neb.; and one sister, Geralding McCorkle of Des Moines.

Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis.
