Carroll William Marquardt, 76, Van Meter, died July 7. Burial was at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Van Meter.

The son of Rufus and Leona Wishmier Marquardt, he was born Jan. 2, 1912 in Jefferson township of Madison County.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran faith to which he remained all his life. He was a graduate of Van Meter High School with the class of 1928. On July 5, 1941 he was married to Helen Trindle. The couple had two children.

His life was spent in farming from which he retired in 1980.

Survivors include his son, Christopher; daughter, Rosemary of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and a sister, Hilda Golightly of Van Meter.
