FRANCIS X. TIERNAN, Mack's Inn, Idaho

Services for Francis X. Tiernan, 66, Mack's Inn, Idaho, who died at his home Oct. 5, will be held at St. Patrick's, Irish Settlement, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, with the Rev. John Richter officiating. A memorial celebration of the Eucharist and interment will be there.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m., a rosary will be held at Caldwell-O'Brien Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Born Jan. 23, 1920, he was the son of James and Kathryn Waldron Tiernan. He was raised in the Irish Settlement and served in World War II with the Third Armored Division with action in the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in the Korean War.

He moved to Seattle, Wash., in 1957 and had resided in his mountain home the past eight years.

He is survived by brothers, John of Winterset, James of San Diego, Calif., and Giles of Decorah. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Rose Ellen and Kathryn.
