Curtis D. Gilman

Curtis Dale, youngest son of Henry A. and Dora Ketelsen Gilman, was born June 2, 1928 at Earlham, Iowa. He died September 10, 1980 as the result of an accident in Adair County, Iowa.

He grew to manhood in the Earlham area and attended the Earlham School.

On June 18, 1949 he was united in marriage to Juanita Forcht and two sons were born to this union.

The family moved to Stuart area in 1953 where Curtis engaged in farming and tiling.

As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by everyone of his family. His granddaughters were a special joy to him.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Margaret.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita; sons, Kenneth of Stuart and Wayne and his wife, Janis of Stuart; two granddaughters, Sara and Susan; three brothers, Everett of Earlham, Roy and Carl of Stuart; other relatives and friends.

Rev. Charles Curl and Rev. Emmanuel Tabelisma officiated at the funeral service on Friday, September 12, 1980 at the Stuart-Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Stuart. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Debbie Wilson. Caring for the floral tributes were Mrs. Bill Belden and Mrs. Eldon Sherman. Serving as casket bearers were Dwight Hawley, Kay Smith, Bill Belden, Eldon Sherman, Larry Watts, and George Shepherd. Interment was in South Oak Grove Cemetery, Stuart, Iowa.
